Aside from hitting the gym a bit more often and monitoring the tasty, tasty snacks a bit more carefully, we are trying something new ... a sprouting jar! After reading up about these handy contraptions, I became interested in giving the whole sprout-growing thing a whirl. Not only are sprouts one of the healthiest foods around, but they are also tasty and versatile. It seems that you can grow a variety of shoots and sprouts, so there's no risk of getting bored anytime soon. Plus, having the jar is kind of like a mini-science fair project going on right in our own home!
Here's the update on the whole process so far:

We decided to go with the BioSnacky sprouting jar, which they carry at Whole Foods.

We chose the Mumm's Sprouting Seeds Mung Bean to start, which should be nice for Asian cooking.

So far, we're just soaking the seeds. After about 6 hours of that we drain the water, add fresh water and soak for another 6 hours.

Sweet Dolly is intrigued!
I promise to post updates as this process unfolds! I think this could be a really fun project to do as a family, and with summer on the way, crisp, fresh sprouts are sure to be a culinary favorite for all kinds of dishes. Fingers crossed!
